Murder Suspect Apprehended in Panama

A 20-year-old man suspected of murdering a firefighter lieutenant has been detained in Panama. He is the fourth suspect arrested in the case. The victim's body was found with signs of strangulation.


Murder Suspect Apprehended in Panama

Panama — A 20-year-old man, allegedly involved in the murder of Fire Corps Lieutenant Delvis González Saavedra, was apprehended during an operation carried out in El Progreso, corregimiento of Puerto Caimito, in La Chorrera. Delvis González was reported missing on August 14, 2025, and his body was found on the 17th of the same month near a creek in the Las Yayas area, corregimiento of Herrera. Days earlier, Saavedra's car had been found completely burned on a rural road in the Herrera corregimiento. According to a National Police (PN) report, the suspect is wanted by the Public Ministry for the alleged crime against life and physical integrity, in the form of homicide. This would be the fourth person apprehended in connection with the death of firefighter Delvis Saavedra, who, according to the forensic examination, was strangled.
